Shock and Australian Penthouse magazine are teaming up to offer 5 lucky readers the chance to win Clutch’s incredible Strange Cousins From The West LP.
Long time riff and rhythm mavens, Clutch, have brought their ninth studio release to the table: Strange Cousins From The West, a ball-breaking homage to gruff and gritty rock and roll.
For early fans of Clutch, Cousins will be a comforting return to roots; a half-way surrender of the jam focus that left the band idling on their last two releases, and a celebrated homecoming to their alloy infusions.
For groove lovers who found these Maryland gentleman in their later years, there’s definitely enough thump to tickle your fancy straight up, and the swaggering, slicker stuff has been wrapped so fatly in funk sensibility that it just feels right when the riff hammer drops in.
No matter your aural poison, you’d be hard-pressed to mount a grievance against any one of these tracks.
Most bands would be happy to stop there but Clutch have gone ahead and taken that next step.
They’ve created a visual element to Cousins as well.
The packaging is die cut, embossed and laden with outstanding, complex artwork, and the lyrics sheet folds out in to a poster of Abraham Lincoln as Shiva.

TERMS & CONDITIONS: Game of Skill
Competition commences on 06/04/10 and concludes on 04/05/10 at 5:00pm. Entry is open to all residents of Australia excluding employees of Australian Penthouse and their families. Entrants must provide their contact details and an answer to the question, “Which member of Clutch do you wish was your strange cousin and why?” in 25 words or less. This is a Game of Skill which contains no element of chance, and which will be judged by members of the Australian Penthouse staff on 15/05/10. Five winners will receive one Prime Suspect – The Complete fatpack, as specified above. Prizes will be mailed to winners at the address nominated in their entry. The promoters take no responsibility for lost or misdirected entries, and no correspondence will be entered into.
