CONGRATULATIONS to our 2010 Pet of the Year, Jewell!

Sydney glamour model Jewell Tyler made her first splash across the pages of Australian Penthouse in July, 2006. The former Miss Caribbean returned to the fray this year as our January 2010 Pet of the Month. The response she received from readers was overwhelming from day one, and when the votes were tallied yesterday Jewell came up trumps. She was crowned as our 2010 Penthouse Pet of the Year at The Men’s Gallery in Melbourne last night, surrounded by her peers–the Penthouse Pets–Australia’s most gorgeous women.

We sat down with Jewell moments after she’d been given the news.

Congratulations, Jewell. How do you feel about winning?

Oh god, I’m lost for words. I’m ecstatic, amazed, happy, joyous, and any other wonderful word you can think of.

How did you get here?

The Internet had a lot to do with it. I connected with so many of my fans over Facebook and they’re the ones that really drove this whole thing, they made it happen.

Is there anything you want to say to them?

I have to thank them for sure, so thank you to every single person that voted for me. I was given a lot of grief from people for befriending strangers on Facebook and stuff, but I knew they were the ones who would be out there on the night screaming, “Jewell, Jewell, Jewell!”

I knew it and I was right. I don’t know everybody who’s out there right now, but I’m glad I was able to get in touch with them somehow.

I also have a little something coming for my blog, just to say thanks, I appreciate everything.

You should have a rest, you’ve earned it.

I can’t, I just can’t. I want to get out there immediately.

And do what?

What I’ve always wanted to do! Promote Australian Penthouse, promote this industry and stand my ground–I want to show people that, yeah, I’m nude, I love it, but I’m not stupid. I’m not silly.

Is that what Pet of the Year is for you?

Absolutely. Pet of the Year is the ultimate demonstration of that. It’s the ultimate accolade in this industry, in my opinion. I could retire tomorrow, because I’ve done it. I’m not going to, but I could. I’ve done it!

I’m also so excited to be in a position to watch the next contenders come through. I think they’ll see what I do, what it means to me, and build on that. We are all stepping up the game.

How do you feel about the other Pets?

They’re all such beautiful girls, and they’re just really, really lovely. They’ve been so supportive. They were coming up to me throughout the night, before the winner was even announced, and saying that if one person had earned the title it was me. I worked so hard, I really wanted it, so it was nice to hear.

You were in the running for Pet of the Year once before, weren’t you?

Yes, but this time I was back with a vengeance. As I said, I really, really wanted 2010, and I really wanted to give readers what they wanted.

Well, they wanted you. How did it feel when you heard your name?

It was so amazing. My mother always told me that if I really wanted something, if I really worked for it, then I could get it. And it’s true. There were tears in my eyes when my name was announced. I just felt this rush of achievement, and satisfaction, and I’m so grateful.

We’re grateful to have you–you’re a gem.

A jewel!
