Sluts Unite!

Well, last week was a big week for me – I handed in my thesis, had my birthday, spoke at a sex radical conference and then gave a speech for Sydney’s first ever Slut Walk!
A thousand people turned up in the freezing cold and rain for Sydney Slut Walk on the long weekend, with signs, posters, marching boots and chants as we rallied at Town Hall and made our way – loudly! – to Harmony Park, across from Surry Hills Police Station.
Slutwalk had significant representation from those working in the adult industry. We stood there, ‘live nude girls united’ as part of a worldwide movement to end sexual violence, victim blaming and slut shaming. I spoke on behalf of the Australian Sex Party about the need to establish a national, comprehensive sex education curriculum in schools. I argued that we cannot end sexual violence if we do not start at sex education – A national sex education syllabus would mean that more people know how to negotiate consensual, ethical and mutual sexual experiences!
I spoke alongside some amazing speakers including Greens representative Lee Rhiannon, Nina Funnell from the Rape Crisis Centre, Audry Autonomy from the national sex worker rights organisation Scarlet Alliance, and feminist Eva Cox.
The day was absolutely amazing – here are some photos to share the love with all of you.
