Thanks to Reel DVD Australian Penthouse is offering 5 readers the chance to win a 20th anniversary edition of classic Australian film Romper Stomper, available on Blu-ray for the first time (valued at $19.95).
Controversial, Influential, Original.
A masterpiece of Australian film—available on Blu-ray for the first time. Romper Stomper is a low budget movie that was shot and produced in Melbourne in 1992. While the country was basking in the feel-good charm of Strictly Ballroom, Romper Stomper delivered a cast of violent, neo-Nazi characters, both criminal and vulnerable, and invited an unsuspecting audience to witness their rise and fall.
Film critics such as David Stratton were alarmed, accusing the film of sympathizing with racism and violence, while newspapers committed full page spreads debating its ‘dangers’. But after the dust settled, the country realised what it actually had.
Romper Stomper was the first Australian film to combine breathless action with an unbridled exploration of taboo themes. The film also provided a first-look at the raw and authentic acting style of star Russell Crowe.
There hasn’t been a film quite like Romper Stomper before or since. It sprang from bolder, more daring times in the history of Australian cinema, and we may not see it’s like again. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the film Romper Stomper has been re-mastered and released on Blu-ray for the first time. Don’t miss your chance to see this pivotal film in high def.
Romper Stomper (Rated R18+) is available now on DVD ($14.95), Blu-Ray ($19.95).
To be in the running to win one of five Blu-ray copies of Romper Stomper, simply answer the following question in 25 words or less: “What is your favourite Russell Crow movie, and why?” in 25 words or less.
