Thanks to Icon Film Distribution, Australian Penthouse is offering 10 readers the chance to win a double pass to see the awesomely violent (and funny) DREDD 3D, valued at $44 each.

THE MOVIE

Here’s our review of DREDD 3D to give you an idea of how great Karl Urban is in the titular role.

ANYONE expecting the family-friendliness and comparative niceness of The Avengers or The Dark Knight Rises, best think again.

Dredd is a comic-book adaptation with gory bite; a relentless action flick that pulls no punches and boasts a body count on par with any Rambo film.

In the not-too-distant dystopian future, police officers act as judge, jury and executioner in a city overrun with crime. The infamous Judge Dredd (Urban) is partnered up with the psychically attuned trainee Cassandra Anderson (Thirlby) to see if she has what it takes to be a Judge in Mega City One.

A seemingly routine ‘Slow-Mo’ drug bust turns bad when Ma-Ma (Headey, Game of Thrones) orders the lockdown of the Peach Trees mega-block she rules over, after Dredd and Anderson attempt to evacuate Kay (Harris, The Wire): one of Ma-Ma’s lieutenants who knows too much to be taken in for questioning.

Dredd and Anderson have to fight their way from bottom to top in a hostile environment, all in beautifully presented 3D that enhances the impact of every gunfight and slow-motion sequence.
