Suzette looks out across the city as the sun blinks out its last bars of light. She seems distracted and stares at the silent telephone. As our Pet of the Month puts out a cigarette in a highly-polished ashtray, she instructs Australian Penthouse to turn on our tape recorder.

“Do you know what I hate the most of all? I hate a man who says he’ll call, and doesn’t. Someone who makes a promise he can’t deliver.”

What do you like in a man, Suzette?

“Apart from calling? I love a man who is unafraid to be soft and tender, but knows how to dominate when he has to.”

“I love it when a man will take me roughly to bed and not be dismayed when I beg him to lick me down there. I love a man with big hands who is not over-confident.”

Suzette turns away from the window. The sky darkens into thunder cloud blue and on the horizon, smears of sunlight appear like blurred lipstick. Her hands tuck into her underwear.

“I like it when a man is content to watch and learn. Are you content to do that?”

Before the scribe can open his mouth the telephone rings.

“So where have you been?” scolds Suzette. Just as the writer thinks his luck has changed, Suzette is heading for the bathroom, dropping her blouse.

“He’s picking me up in an hour-I have to be ready when he comes.”

The writer is downcast, knowing there is no chance of anything happening between them now.

“Shut the door on your way out, will you?” are Suzette’s final words.
