She’s a child of the sun and the sea, but no matter where our nymph goes, her heart belongs to Australia. “There’s something really mystical about the ocean; about the way it makes you feel when the water hits your skin,” says Julie Press, our pet of the month.

Who better enjoy the hot, tropical days, crystal waters and balmy, perfumed nights of Tahiti? “I didn’t need an alarm clock she says. Somehow my body knew that the sun was playing off the water, and I just had to be there when it did.”

Julie blossomed on the island of pale beige beaches skirting lush forests and heady tropical flowers, but the water consumed her attention. “The sea was the birthplace of Venus,” she reminds us. “How can you be there without thinking about love?”

“I love my life” she says. “I love making love. I love everything that makes me feel fulfilled as a woman.”

We found Julie in Sydney and our photographer Peter Carrette took her to club Mediterranean in Tahiti for the shoot. But adventures in paradise can’t last forever. Julie has to work to do and places to see all over the world. She says she’ll always come home to Australia when she can for our sun and sea and our tall, tanned windsurfers. “They turn me on.” She says, “A beautiful man who can windsurf  understands the complexities of the ocean, and so, in a way, he understands me.”
