October 1981 Pet of the Month, Amanda Ford

“I’m a romantic, Scarlett O’Hara kind of girl,” says Pet of the Month Amanda Ford with a toss of her head, which sends ripples of light down her beautiful flame-coloured hair. “ Ii’m veru happy to be living in this day and age, but there are times when I yearn for the genteel lifestyle of yesteryear.”

Our petite 32-22-32 Pet who likes horse riding, dinning out and music, says she is attracted by tall, dark, handsome men. “But what girl isn’t! Actually its pretty hard to generalise about men. Subtly is a quality I particularly appreciate in a man- that way some men have of letting you know they adore you just by looking into your eyes, without saying a word. It’s an attitude, an understanding.”
Amanda works as an accounting machine operator, and she has some experience in modelling work. “ My ambition, my dream,” she says “is to be successful actress and model.”
At 23, Amanda is a sophisticated, bright and versatile. She knows where she’s going and how she’s going to get there. She feels as comfortable in her day-to-day working life in Sydney as she does when she goes romantic” in the country. “One day I’ll be running barefoot through a field, and the next day I’ll be doing back-up vocals for New Metal Music- that’s the band in which my boyfriend plays.”
“I really understand all this fuss about relationships these days,” says Amanda. “It all seems natural to me- doing whatever feels right.”
