Glamour – B. Incredibly Sexy

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to let you all know about a passion of mine; Glamour.
The definition of glamour is that it is an alluring and often illusory charm. But to me there is so much more to it than that. It is an attitude, a way of life. I have somewhat of a love affair with the past. Reading about the late 19th cetury thrills me; the breath taking costumes of silks, rustling petticoats and lace finery of long ago… And more recently, the early era of Hollywood stars. I’m thinking of Mary Pickford, the young Elizabeth Taylor, Vivian Leigh, Lauren “Betty” Bacall, Audrey Hepburn, Mae West and Rita Hayworth. All the women had a certain charisma, that “je ne sais quoi” that makes someone a star.
Then there are the modern day glamours, my personal favourite being the stunningly beautiful Dita Von Teese. This woman exudes style class and sophistication and is the undisputed Queen of the art of burlesque. A lot of the inspiration for my work comes from this remarkably talented woman.
“Ladies“, said Mr Samuel Goldwyn, the famous Hollywood producer (1917-1953), “If you want to be devastating, use all the arts of sophistication, but remain demure”
The phrase “The arts of sophistication” conjures up thoughts about good grooming, elegant dressing, beauty culture in all its aspects, poise and grace of movement, good speech and a developed personality; “demure” suggests that sweetness and serenity without which no woman can be truly beautiful.
Mr Goldwyn had it right.
Love Honey B.
xoxo
