“I thought I would have quit by now. I didn’t know I was going to be this good, or that all this fabulous stuff was going to happen.” Since beginning her career as a stripper four years ago to finance university studies, fabulous stuff indeed been happening for 23-year-old Chrissy Lane.

Competing against 40 other entrants from around the world, the true-blue-eyed five foot seven Aussie knocked everyone for a loop by winning the Miss nude World Conest, which took plave in Houston, Texas, last June. In addition to winning cash, a cruise, jewellery, shoes and clothes from the sponsors of the event, Chrissy is the first Australian to win the competition in it’s 31-year history. Quite a coup for self-described “shy girl” from the eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

Penthouse was there to record the action at the event but as an exclusive pictorial and is our extra-special centrefold this month.

Four years ago the effervescent Chrissy, who had been dux at her high school, looked set to continue her fine academic record studying applied science and Physical Education at Melbourne University when she began working part-time as a stripper. Stripping’s gain, how ever soon turned out to be academia’s loss. “I was working late and getting more popular with dancing and getting more jobs, finishing at one, two o’clock in the morning. It lasted for about six months of doing both. It was really difficult to get to eight o’clock lectures, after trying to stay out and do my work. I van always go back to university whenever I want to, but I’m having such a good time doing this that I can’t imagine going back.”

Certainly she’s received benefits like the Miss Nude World Title, that she never could have anticipated when she began her career four years ago.

Chrissy’s entry into the event was a last-minute occurance. During her previous reign as Miss Nude Australia in the 92/93 year, Chrissy had participated in the international event but came off second best. “I just went for the fun of it,” says Chrissy about her first shot at the Miss Nude title. Despite only having worked as a stripper for six months that time Chrissie made it to the final. It gave her a taste of what was possible, and the peppy blonde returned home to refine her act, design better costumes and improve her dancing.

When Chrissy received a phone call earlier this year from the Crazy Horse Hotel in Adelaide (organisers of the Miss Nude Australia contest) offering to send her to this year’s international contest in Houston, she jumped at the chance.

Each entrant of the week-long Miss Nude World event is required to perform for 15 minutes during their heats. Chrissy was a stand out with her variety of routines. Her performance as a sailor abord a tug boat complete with flashing lights and a beacon caused a splash, as did her turn in a huge pink and white head dress for her Las Vegas style number, and emerging from a space craft for a science fgiction extravaganza. However it was her dance inside a giant champagne glass that made her the toast of the contest.

To enhance her act Chrissy has some samples of her own voice playing on her musical tapes. “At one point,” Chrissy explains, “when I’m dancing my voice  says ‘How would you like to come down under?’, and I point between my legs. When I did that they all went spastic! They all just started screaming WOW! And YEAH!”

So how can a woman who can successfully perform naked in fornt of a room full of Americans, claim to be shy? In conversation Chrissy may be described as a little nervous maybe, but she bubbles with a girl next door quality, and an ability to speak her mind.

“Im just not the wild party type that girls in my line of work usually are,” Chissy reveals. “I’m much happier sitting at home with my cat, just being peaceful. But when I’m on stage that’s when my submerged, secret identity comes out. On stage I feel so sensual, sexy not a problem in the world. People tell me I have an amazing aura on stage. And tell the truth if I could be in real life like I am on stage I’d be in bliss all the time.”

Though a patriotic ambassadress for Australia, Chrissy is fascinated by the United States and looks forward to travelling there again. Next June is the most likely time, as that is when she is scheduled to hand over the crown to the attractive contestant who wins next years event.

“Miss Nude World is going to be in Atlanta next year. It takes place a week before the Olympics, so I plan to stay on and experience that as a preview for the games in Sydney in 2000.”
