Written by Philip Weigall, a professional flyfishing guide and writer based in Victoria, the stylish tome is broken into ‘Spring’, ‘Summer’, ‘Autumn’ and ‘Winter’ sections, and the author’s passion for his subject is infectious.
While avid anglers will eat up Philip’s tales of woe and triumph on the water like a rainbow trout devouring an ‘olive woolly bugger’ fly, you don’t have to be handy with a rod to enjoy Fishing Season. Weigall’s evocative descriptions of idyllic streams and lakes will stay with you long after you’ve turned the last page, and the illustrations of flies and fish that pepper the hardcover book are absolutely fantastic.
Competition commences on 4/11/09 and concludes on 4/12/09. Entry is open to all residents of Australia over the age of 18, but excludes all employees of Australian Penthouse. Entrants must provide their contact details and an answer to the question, “What’s the best thing about fishing?” in 25 words or less. This is a game of skill which contains no element of chance, and which will be judged by members of the Australian Penthouse staff on 8/11/09. Five winners will receive one book each. Prizes will be mailed to winners at the address nominated in their entry. The promoters take no responsibility for lost or misdirected entries, and no correspondence will be entered into.
