snoop-dogg-malice-final[1]Snoop Dogg’s new album, Malice in Wonderland is a far cry from Doggystyle and The Doggfather, and therefore many die-hard Snoop fans will be disappointed. Yes, Snoop has seemingly a sold out his old school rap – switching his music to become more mainstream tunes. Yet club goers will be happy with Malice in Wonderland’s poppy, techno beats, with several songs featuring auto-tuning.

There are many cameo appearances on the album by fellow rappers, which prove to be a good and bad thing – although adding variety and an all-star cast to the album (R Kelly, Pharrell, Brandy, Lil John), it should be noted that some of the special guests steal the spotlight – just listen to Soulja Boy in ‘Pronto’.

Yet Snoop is back with the lyrics and themes that have made him the success he is today, rapping about gin and juice, hoes, bitches and sex, for example in ‘Luv Drunk’, he raps about wanting to put “my rat-tat-tat in her boom-boom pie.” However Snoop has matured and has become a tad romantic, throwing in a shout-out to his wife (“that’s my baby… feels so good I have to sing about it”), which comes as a nice surprise.

However one element of Malice in Wonderland that’s undoubtedly amazing: the album’s cover artwork. Check it out!
