Win Carrier on DVD

Icon Film Distribution and Australian Penthouse magazine are offering 15 readers the chance to win a DVD copy of Carrier (RRP $69.95).

This amazing 10-part series is narrated by Australian movie great Mel Gibson and filmed on board the USS NIMITZ during the super-carrier’s six-month global deployment. The documentary provides never-before access to the high-stakes world of national security aboard a U.S. nuclear aircraft carrier. Documenting the lives of more than 5000 sailors, Carrier puts you right alongside the crew whose task is to keep the floating city prepared for any eventuality. The crew are part of a six-month deployment to the Persian Gulf, where they’ll face confining quarters, harsh temperatures, extreme work conditions, and conflicts of faith and duty.

For many of the ships’ young crew, the journey presents difficult personal challenges as they navigate around conflicts with their jobs, faith, patriotism, love, rites of passage and the war on terror. Screened on Showtime Australia in 2009, Carrier provides 634 minutes of action and adventure over 10 DVDs. Directed by Maro Chermayeff, the documentary promises an educational experience not soon forgotten.

Competition commences on 3/2/10 and concludes on 31/03/10 at 5pm. Entry is open to all residents of Australia, but excludes all employees of Australian Penthouse. Entrants must provide their contact details and an answer to the question, “Tell us your favourite Hollywood movie about the US Navy, and why?” in 25 words or less. This is a game of skill which contains no element of chance, and which will be judged by members of the Australian Penthouse staff on 01/04/10. Fifteen winners will receive one copy of the DVD as specified above. Prizes will be mailed to winners at the address nominated in their entry.
