When we told April’s Penthouse Pet of the Month Rowena Leigh that her next pictorial would have real bite, she was thrilled. When we told her that she would be photographed with internationally renonwned movie stars, whose signature tune was recognised the world over, she was exhilarated. However when we revealed that her co-stars had fins and she’d need a swimming certificate to participate, she began to think something fishy was going on. A dancers natural habitat, one would think is in the spot light. Not so with the lovely Leah Campbell. A showstopper whenever she appears, this 21-year-old likes to leave her celebrity status on the stage. “when I’m dancing I feel more alive than I do at any other time. I absolutely love performing. Words can’t convey the magical feeling. But when the show’s over I don’t want to hear any more about it,” the towering woman says emphatically. “I can’t stand people coming backstage or even worse, approaching me in the street.”

If someone asked you to guess the birthplace of beautiful Rowena Leigh, you would, naturally presume it was in a sunny beachside town or a tropical resort. Carins, Noosa or the Gold Coast first spring to mind….but Canberra? “Oh, it’s really not such a bad place,” she laughs. “It tends to get cold in the winter, but that’s when you head off down to the snow.”

Most people express surprise when they find out that 23-year-old Gitta Sondstrom is of Scandinavian descent. If her dark hair is unusual for one of Nordic lineage, something else about Gitta is entirely in character – her burning ambition to be an actress. “I’d love to work on films, mainly in comedy – I think that’s where my true talent lies.” If acting allows Gitta to release her comic streak, then appearing in Penthouse allows her sto show another side of her nature – her passion.

You glance across through the heat haze to see the voluptuous form of Kristie Moore, clad only in G-string and a thin sheen of suntan lotion. While it would take Freud to figure out the thoughts racing through your head, the chances are this lovely 21-year-old is dwelling on much of the same subject. “Basically, if I’m lying on the beach, I want to have sex.
