WIN! A Jack Reacher DVD prize pack
by Suzan Ryan on May.10, 2013, under Competitions
Thanks to Paramount Pictures, Australian Penthouse is offering 5 readers the chance to win a DVD prize pack featuring kick-arse action movie JACK REACHER plus a Jack Reacher USB light and Jack Reacher dashboard mat (valued at $69.99).
THE MOVIE
FORMER US Army Military Police Corps officer and current drifter Jack Reacher (Cruise) takes it upon himself to travel to Pennsylvania after ex-US Army sniper James Barr (Sikora) is arrested for the apparent random murder of five people.
Reacher’s mission is simple: he wants to see Barr executed, as this isn’t the first time the sniper has gone violently rogue. In order to appease his own pedantic nature, though, and at the behest of District Attorney Helen Rodin (Pike), Reacher can’t help but conduct his own investigation into a case where not everything adds up.
Cruise puts in a believable performance as the no-bullshit drifter who will stop at nothing to uncover the truth. There are plenty of incredibly well-shot action sequences, buttressed with intriguing characters and engaging dialogue, as the mystery unfolds throughout the course of the film.
The film also boasts an all-star cast including Robert Duvall (Apocalypse Now), Rosamund Pike (Die Another Day), Werner Herzog (Rescue Dawn), David Oyelowo (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), Richard Jenkins (The Cabin in the Woods) and Jai Courtney (A Good Day to Die Hard).
DVD special features include a ‘Combat & Weapons’ documentary, whereas Blu-ray boasts two separate film commentaries and two documentaries: ‘When The Man Comes Around’ and ‘The Reacher Phenomenon’.
Based on best-selling author Lee Child’s popular series of novels, Jack Reacher was adapted for the screen and directed by Academy Award-winner Christopher McQuarrie (Best Original Screenplay, The Usual Suspects, 1995).

Thanks to Roadshow Entertainment, Australian Penthouse is offering 5 readers the chance to win a DVD copy of the new Bruce Willis/Joseph Gordon Levitt science-fiction thriller, Looper (valued at $39.95).
THE MOVIE
The year is 2044 and the United States has suffered a major economic collapse, which in turn has triggered social decay and a massive growth in organised crime.
Thirty years in the future lies the invention of time travel, a science made immediately illegal, leaving it’s main proponents the corporation-sized organised crime syndicates.
One such syndicate hires Joe Simmons (Joseph Gordon-Levitt, The Dark Knight Rises) to be an assassin known as a “looper” to annihilate people the syndicate send back in time from 2074 to 2044. The victims are handed to Joe less on a silver platter than a sheet of plastic, and Joe is an effective killer, without remorse or regret, until his future self (Bruce Willis, Die Hard) is sent back for assassination, leaving Joe momentarily flustered, hesitating for a moment, enough time for his future-self to knock him out and escape.
After evading death, older Joe is on a mission to find the crime-boss known as the “Rainmaker”, who ordered his death. Meanwhile, t he younger Joe Simmons needs to kill his older self before he himself is assassinated for failing to carry out the hit.
Looper has already been heralded as one of the greatest sci-fi films ever created. Written and directed by Rian Johnson (Brick).

To be in the running to win one DVD copy of Looper, answer the following question: “What is your all-time favourite science-fiction movie, and why?” in 25 words or less.

THE MOVIE
Lockout is a 2012 sci-fi film revolving around an experimental space prison called MS One - a maximum-security facility that houses the world’s most dangerous criminals. The prisoners are locked in solitary chambers which keep them in a constant state of artificial sleep, all while floating somewhere in the depths of space. The year is 2079 and technological advancements have created a bit of a futuristic mess.
Emilie (Maggie Grace, Taken 2) is the daughter of the American president. When word gets out that the sleep state in which the prisoners are kept is damaging their psyche, Emilie agrees to interview the prisoners in an effort to figure out the problem. Unfortunately, her goodwill mission comes to an abrupt end when one of the prisoners, Hydell (Joseph Gilgun, Harry Brown), manages to break free and release his killer comrades, taking Emilie hostage in the process.
This is where Snow (Guy Pearce, Prometheus) comes in. Snow is a former government agent who was framed for spying. He’s given one last chance for redemption when he’s asked to go into the prison to save Emilie. Will he find her alive? Even if he does, can they escape?
