Off The Set is an intimate behind-the-scenes look at the very private lives of porn stars. This large format photography book takes readers through the figurative back door and in to the bedrooms of some of the adult industry’s biggest names.

Primarily these stories are told through photo essays, though some of the sets are punctuated by letters, interviews or prose between, with and from the actors involved. The resultant picture is one of diversity. Many of the insights detail the liberation of the industry and the gifts it has given its practitioners, but others – such as the emotive farewell Lorelei Lee delivers to her anonymous beau –  allude to the uncertainty and tribulations that can be symptomatic of the job and its stigma.

Photography team Paulie and Pauline have collected a handful of revelations that serve to definitively humanize a category of people so often objectified as sexual machines, and they’ve done it with a lush set of production values and no lack of artistic vision.

Off The Set is a rare and endearing glimpse in to the depths of some very special individuals.
